A thought developed in my head...hearing and watching Suede perform, 22 years after Cockney Rebel exploded in a similar manner, into our consciousness, electric violin into electric guitar, black t shirts, wicked hairstyles, exciting melody, poetic lyrics, demonstrative delivery...

Such bands occur in cycles to instil an excitement, an alternative, a subliminal subculture via the joy of music players, voice and words...

At the Jazz Cafe in '98, Steve was bigging up Radiohead (I also like them), I remember listening to Karma Police on a jukebox in Slough, the same year ('98) - and I remember shouting 'Suede' at Steve...

A fanciful work of FICTION, but inspired by three songs (and a fourth by lateral thinking?)

The work could be a play, with music or, (my term) 'a shrunken musical'.

A play with music reminded me of when Sash and I saw and heard 'Richard III ' with Ian McKellen (circa 1991), I think at The Oxford Playhouse (I still have the brochure, somewhere).

Colin Good (who for a time was the piano and musical director for Roxy Music from 2001, played some really interesting synth accompanying that production - a decade or over later, we caught sight of him, on the other side of the road in Jericho, Oxford, on our way to our favourite restaurant, back in the day...)

Anyway...

In my fanciful plot, there is a woman involved, an American girl - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers come to mind (potentially a fourth song). She could be a Texan or maybe a Bostonian...
