Edinburgh, Queens Hall, 26 May 2010 - Deb and Karen hit Scotland

  • Read: 5090 Times

When last we wrote we were still in Belfast. What has happened since? We had a day (post-gig) to spend in Belfast before catching our early evening flight to Edinburgh so we decided to do a tour of the city by open top bus taking in the city landmarks, buildings and halls, the titanic sites, Stormont in a glorious park setting, high on a hill above the city and finally loyalist and nationalist housing areas, with the iconic murals and the dreadful peace walls, a stark reminder of the troubles.

Belfast, Spring and Airbrake, 24 May 2010 - Deb and Karen continue their journey

  • Read: 6681 Times

Our delightful Dublin hotel had wireless access on the ground floor cafe so whilst we tucked into a huge full Irish breakfast (Deborah) and the weirdest breakfast ever (Karen) we topped and tailed our report and posted it up as instructed- ooops have no idea what happened to the font! Panic email to Andy who was probably tearing his hair out and shouting...sorry!

Dublin Academy, Sunday 23rd May 2010, Deborah and Karen on the road

  • Read: 4516 Times

We landed with a bit of a ‘bounce’ at Dublin airport on a warm and sunny afternoon which did nothing for those of a nervous flying disposition. Deborah, having consulted our Manchester travel agent (cheers Paul ), knew exactly which bus we should be getting, so after a journey of 30 mins or so, during which we discovered a kindred spirit in a chap who follows his own favourite bands around Europe and ‘understood’, we found ourselves in roughly the right vicinity for our hotel and the venue.

Sunday  28 February 2010

Wow how the time has flown! Was it really four months ago that we actually went to Germany?

Thank you for your patience and bearing with us. We have just been planning our next Harley adventures and together in the same room, have also managed to finish this tale.

This is for those who were there and shared, and for those who weren’t, it’s something to savour and look forward to the joys to come in 2010. New Tour, new album, new songs! What more could a Harley fan wish for? And understand, it’s not all fantasy it’s the best years of our lives!

Yes, the Beethoven remark WAS a joke!

Steve Harley – No Mr Soft

October 28, 2009 by John Hurd

‘Mr Soft’ was the title of Steve Harley’s 1974 hit single. Harley himself though is anything but soft.
“I don’t give sympathy because I don’t expect it. Nice guys don’t make it” is a famous quote from a 1977 interview.
Harley’s concert with Cockney Rebel at Bonn’s Harmonie showed that at 58 he is still very much in both Command and Demand.
