Dear Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel,
Ten years ago my dad found me singing along to Cavaliers in my bedroom (I was 15 at the time). We were both shocked to see the other knew all the words. I was amazed as my dad told me he had seen you play in LA in the 70s around the time Best Years of Our Lives came out. He earned a lot of a teenagers version of respect for that! Little did he know you had become my favorite musician, and that Psychomodo and Human Menagerie were all I had been listening to for months on my headphones.
We found in the coming years our shared love for your music led to a true bond, one that unfortunately so many fathers and daughters miss out on.
This past November we were able to travel the 5,000 miles to see you play in Birmingham and Coventry, and I just wanted to thank you for this unforgettable experience, and for playing Tumbling Down, a song that means more to me than any!
The only thing that could have topped off the trip would be to have found Human Menagerie on vinyl, but until I find it, I'll listen to my dads!
