With the Human Menagerie and Psychomodo live concert firmly in our minds for this November a chance to look back to a brilliant visual compilation of those 'early days' courtesy of Roualt's new posting.Get onto YouTube and type in 'Cockney Rebel Story'. A lovely little 10 minute film to get you into the mood for Birmingham. Might even inspire those who have not yet got a ticket to buy one!!

Priceless! I've just been down memory lane , it bought tears to my eyes .

then I recalled those immortal words " hold back on trailing though the years , it will only bring us heartache "

the mystery unfolds !

see you in The Symphony Hall cheri x

I love all the different phases of Cockney Rebel.Maybe the 1975/1976 version with Jim Cregan's electric guitar is my favourite era particularly for the live performances.Having said that, there was something so pure and simple about the original band and Roualt's 10 minute video tribute proves they were one of the best and most original group's of that period. The music doesn't sound at all dated and Steve really created an image for himself that was both interesting and unique. At the end of the video when 'Tumbling Down' starts up and the break up of the band is announced i get a little lump in my throat. Crazy i guess for something that happened 38 years ago!

You're right, he's a real mystery.
Steve has no idea who it might be, this Roualt58.
But he has access to some rare memorobilia/photos.
Is it Reg the professionakl music journalist? Looks like he has access to a very good photo/clippings library.
And we're all enriched by his efforts!!
Just to clarify: Steve explained that Roualt ("Hark to Roualt's white insanity/clowns in drag concealing vanity" - RITZ) is a reference to the French painter Georges Roualt - 1871-1958 - who specialised in clown paintings and was a big influence on Steve's love of art.
