Steve writes....and I quote "Messages posted online will never replace the nuances and gestures of face-to-face conversation"

The man has spoken.

The silence here could become deafening.

Couldn't agree more with Steve's piece about mobile 'phones and "Social Media" but there ARE times when e.g. a "round-robin" of say, e-mail contacts, can be useful or indeed, necessary. Guilty, m'Lud. I use a mobile 'phone about once a month at most but buying an iPhone rather than an iPod only, makes the £ 500+ Tax-deductible !! Laptops or mobile 'phones in use on planes and trains or even in public is sheer exhibitionism and judging by some people I've seen, the health sector should do well in future - charging people to separate surgically the mobile 'phones that are seemingly glued to their faces. What about those "in-ear" mobile 'phones ? Don't even get me started, it's still only 7.30 a.m......
